Frequently asked questions
Are your items handmade?
Yes. My pieces are made, finished, assembled, painted, engraved, or customized by me depending on the design. Because many of my items are handmade, small differences are part of what makes each piece unique.
Will my item look exactly like the photo?
Not always, and that is part of the beauty of handmade work.
Natural materials like whiskey barrel wood and gemstones can vary in color, grain, texture, char, and pattern. Hand-painted pieces may also have slight differences from one item to the next. I do my best to keep each piece consistent with the original design while allowing the natural character of the materials to show through.
Where does your whiskey barrel wood come from?
I work with a local business that creates whiskey barrel furniture, signs, and other barrel pieces. Their projects often leave behind smaller pieces of wood that may otherwise go unused.
I use some of those leftover pieces to create earrings, watches, and other designs. I love being able to give the wood another purpose while preserving some of the character and history already present in the material.
What does “charred whiskey barrel wood” mean?
The inside of a whiskey barrel is intentionally charred as part of the barrel-making process. That char creates the dark, textured surface you may see in some of my designs.
Rather than painting the wood black, some pieces use the barrel’s original char as part of the finished design. Because every section of a barrel is different, the amount of char and texture can vary from piece to piece.
Are your earrings lightweight?
Many of them are, especially the whiskey barrel wood designs. Wood allows me to create larger statement earrings without some of the weight you might expect from a similar design made entirely from metal.
Weight can vary depending on the size, beads, stones, and other materials used. If you have questions about a specific pair, feel free to reach out before ordering.
Do you offer hypoallergenic earring hooks?
Some designs may be available with alternative hooks or findings. If you have a metal sensitivity, please contact me before ordering so I can let you know what options are available for that particular design.
Please keep in mind that everyone’s sensitivities are different, so I cannot guarantee that a particular metal will be suitable for every person.
Can I request a custom design?
Absolutely. Custom pieces are one of my favorite ways to create because they allow me to make something that has a personal meaning or story behind it.
Depending on the project, I may be able to customize colors, themes, gemstones, wood, engraving, or other design elements. Contact me with your idea and I will let you know what is possible.
Can you engrave an item?
Yes, select items can be personalized with engraving. Depending on the material and design, this may include names, dates, short messages, artwork, symbols, or other details.
For custom engraving, please double-check all spelling, dates, and personalization information before submitting your order.
Can I choose a specific gemstone?
For some designs, yes.
Because gemstones are natural, each stone can vary in color, pattern, clarity, and shape. If a listing offers multiple gemstone options, you can select your preferred stone when ordering.
For custom requests, contact me and I can let you know what stones are currently available.
Do your crystals or gemstones have healing properties?
Many crystals and gemstones have traditional, cultural, or personal meanings associated with them, and some people enjoy choosing stones based on those beliefs or the way a particular stone makes them feel.
I love incorporating that meaning into my designs, but my jewelry is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
How should I care for my jewelry?
To help your pieces last, store them in a dry place when they are not being worn.
Try to avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and other chemicals. I also recommend removing jewelry before swimming, showering, or sleeping.
Wooden pieces should be kept as dry as possible because repeated exposure to moisture can affect the finish and the wood over time.
How long does it take to make my order?
Processing time depends on the item.
Ready-to-ship pieces generally leave sooner, while made-to-order, engraved, or custom pieces may require additional time. The current processing estimate will be listed on the product page whenever possible.
If you need an item by a particular date, please contact me before ordering.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping time depends on the carrier and the service selected at checkout.
Please remember that processing time and shipping time are separate. Once a package has been handed over to the carrier, delivery times may be affected by weather, holidays, or other carrier delays.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact me as soon as possible and include photos of the item and packaging.
I want you to be happy with your order, and I will work with you to determine the best solution based on the situation.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because many of my pieces are handmade or personalized, return eligibility may depend on the item.
Custom and personalized items generally cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or there was an error with the order.
For all other items, please review the store’s current return policy or contact me if you have a question before purchasing.
Can I send an order as a gift?
Yes. You can have an order shipped directly to the recipient.
If you would like a short gift message included, leave a note with your order or contact me after purchasing.
Still have a question?
Please reach out. I am always happy to answer questions about a piece, materials, customization, or an idea you have in mind.
