FROM SOMETHING UNEXPECTED

From barrel wood to something worth keeping.

Some materials already have a story before they become jewelry.

Holistico Creations works with a local business that creates whiskey barrel furniture, signs, and other barrel pieces. Instead of letting smaller pieces of leftover wood go unused, some are given a new purpose as earrings, watches, and other unique designs.

Each piece of wood carries its own grain, texture, and character, making every creation a little different.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PIECES

A lifelong love of making things.

I started making jewelry when I was eight years old after I was given a beading loom. After that, I took beading classes almost every year and spent a lot of time working with seed beads. Peyote stitch, brick stitch, and loom designs were some of the first techniques I really learned and loved.

Growing up in Alaska had a big influence on me too. Indigenous artwork, beadwork, and the natural beauty of Alaska shaped the way I look at color, texture, and design. Fall has always been especially inspiring to me because of the deep reds, golds, greens, and earthy colors that show up everywhere.

As I got older, creating became more than just a hobby. It became something I could come back to whenever I wanted to challenge myself, learn something new, or simply do something that made me happy.

That is really what Holistico Creations is about.

THE CRAFT BEHIND THE PIECES

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few things you may want to know.

From materials and customization to caring for your pieces, here are some of the questions we hear most often.
Yes. My pieces are made, finished, assembled, painted, engraved, or customized by me depending on the design. Because many of my items are handmade, small differences are part of what makes each piece unique.
Not always, and that is part of the beauty of handmade work. Natural materials like whiskey barrel wood and gemstones can vary in color, grain, texture, char, and pattern. Hand-painted pieces may also have slight differences from one item to the next. I do my best to keep each piece consistent with the original design while allowing the natural character of the materials to show through.
I work with a local business that creates whiskey barrel furniture, signs, and other barrel pieces. Their projects often leave behind smaller pieces of wood that may otherwise go unused. I use some of those leftover pieces to create earrings, watches, and other designs. I love being able to give the wood another purpose while preserving some of the character and history already present in the material.
Many of them are, especially the whiskey barrel wood designs. Wood allows me to create larger statement earrings without some of the weight you might expect from a similar design made entirely from metal. Weight can vary depending on the size, beads, stones, and other materials used. If you have questions about a specific pair, feel free to reach out before ordering.
Absolutely. Custom pieces are one of my favorite ways to create because they allow me to make something that has a personal meaning or story behind it. Depending on the project, I may be able to customize colors, themes, gemstones, wood, engraving, or other design elements. Contact me with your idea and I will let you know what is possible.
To help your pieces last, store them in a dry place when they are not being worn. Try to avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and other chemicals. I also recommend removing jewelry before swimming, showering, or sleeping. Wooden pieces should be kept as dry as possible because repeated exposure to moisture can affect the finish and the wood over time.
